Block 2: Writing, Saving and Living Autumn
Day 31 of 120. Today the second block of my 120-Day Finish 2026 begins, and it runs until November 1. After a block that was mostly physical, this one is more about the mind: consume less, create more. The physical part keeps going anyway.
Writing Challenge
The heart of this block: I write every day. So I don't end up staring at a blank page every evening, I found a template I can follow along.
Spartober
One month without unnecessary spending. Specifically, that means 30 days of not ordering anything from Amazon or similar shops. No clothes, no Pokémon stuff, nothing I don't really need.
I'm consciously allowing myself a few exceptions. Soil for the garden, for example, so I can get it ready for winter, and eating out on days I've planned ahead. I also want to save and buy more sustainably during regular grocery shopping. That's exactly the habit I want to build for the long run.
Drawing, But Honestly
Originally I wanted to join Inktober and draw every day. To be honest, I don't think I can manage that on top of everything else. Instead of setting a goal I'll fail at after a week, I'm scaling it down: two to three drawings per week.
My October Bucket List
Besides the challenges, I simply want to enjoy autumn. So I've set myself 15 things to do:
- Baking and cooking: apple pie, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin soup and Federweißer with onion tart
- Apples and pumpkins: pick apples, visit a pumpkin farm or a pumpkin exhibition, carve a pumpkin
- Outdoors: an autumn hike in the Palatinate Forest or through the vineyards, collect chestnuts and roast them
- Garden: get the garden ready for winter and plant flower bulbs for spring
- Cozy: an autumn playlist, a rainy day with a blanket, tea and a book, and an evening completely without my phone
- 1000 Days: October 10 is day 50, and there will be a separate video for it
What Keeps Going
My Winter Arc and my daily habit tracking continue across all blocks. And of course I'm taking the plank goal of five minutes by the end of the year with me. The challenges change, the foundation stays.
New month, new Post-its on the wall. Let's see what I have to tell you on November 1.
