50 Days out of 1000: Where Do I Stand?

50 days done. That's only five percent of the entire challenge, but still a good moment to pause and take an honest look back: What worked, what didn't, and what will I do differently from now on?

A Strong Start

The beginning went really well. I was motivated, had my plan and actually followed through. I hit my fitness goals and my other goals in the first few weeks, and that felt really good. It was exactly what I had hoped for from the first days: building a routine and sticking with it.

The Dip in Mid-September

Then, in mid-September, came the first small setback. After my trip to Vienna I got sick, then my car broke down, and on top of that there was a lot of other work I actually wanted to get done. All of that together meant that a lot of things really slowed down. But that's part of it, and I don't see it as failure. Now it's about getting back on track so things start moving forward again.

What Didn't Go Well: My Reading List

Unfortunately, the books I wanted to read didn't go as planned either. I did read, but different books than the ones I had actually planned. That's something I still need to stick to.

What I'm Changing: No More Daily TikToks

Until now, I uploaded a video to TikTok every single day. But I noticed that on some days not much happens, especially when I'm working from home. The result was almost the same footage every day, and honestly, that's a bit lame, both for me and for anyone watching. So I'm dropping the daily TikTok videos and focusing on content that actually has something to tell.

On Threads, though, I'll keep posting my daily status. I'd really like to keep that up until day 1000, but to be honest, I don't know yet if I'll manage. We'll see.

What's Going Really Well: Journaling and Monthly Goals

One real highlight is my journaling. Since I started using my new Paper Republic notebook, it's been going great. I plan the week ahead, then each day in the morning, and every now and then I write down a few thoughts in between. I also love setting monthly goals. They give me a clear direction without getting lost in everyday life.

Progress in the Attic

Another positive: I kept working on the attic. That's another project I want to finish within the 1000 days.

My Own Challenge App

I'm also currently building my own little app so I can focus better on my challenges and my monthly goals. Sure, there are probably tons of apps like that already. But I'm building it exactly around my needs, so it fits me best.

A First Experiment

Overall, I've noticed that I've taken on a lot and still need to build better routines. But this is only the beginning. Of course there are things where I first need to figure out how I cope and what works for me. For me, this challenge is also a first experiment, and that's exactly how I'm approaching it. Try, adjust, keep going.

Not every day has to be perfect. What matters is getting back up after a dip and moving on. 950 days still lie ahead of me.
